The bathroom is usually the first room we visit in
the morning and the last one we leave at night.
It is the place where we clean and groom
ourselves, relax in the tub after a hard day’s work, and yes, of course, it is the room where we
relieve ourselves.
With all of these different uses, you would think
that people would pay close attention and make sure that their bathrooms were properly designed to
accommodate each of these important tasks.
Well, you’d be wrong. The fact is that many homeowners
overlook the importance of bathroom amenities. In particular, people tend to give little thought to bathroom
lighting, especially bathroom ceiling lights.
Bathroom Light Fixtures - Installation
It should come as no surprise that bathroom lighting, as it does
in every other room, plays an important part in not only the appearance of your bathroom, but also in helping you
to get the most out of your time in the bathroom.
Good bathroom ceiling lights are especially important in the area
around the sink and vanity mirror. This is the spot where you will be addressing all your grooming and hygiene
needs, and perhaps even applying makeup. If this area is not properly lit, how can you be expected to properly
complete these daily necessities?
To correct this problem, you should install (or have installed)
bathroom ceiling lights that will provide you with proper illumination. You can choose from many different styles
of bathroom light covers and fixtures,
from the purely functional to the decorative.
Depending on the size of your bathroom, ceiling lights alone may
not emit enough light for the entire room. You may also need to install an overhead light in the shower that can
give you the right amount of light for your bathing needs. Ceiling lights may also be used to brighten the dim
corners of larger bathrooms. Bathroom ceiling lights with fan fixtures are very popular these days, to ensure
appropriate venting, and are often more attractive than stand-alone bathroom ceiling fans.
If you are a bather and enjoy a nice relaxing soak in the tub,
bright overhead lights are probably not for you. It is important then to select more subtle, diffuse lighting that
will enhance your relaxation and add atmosphere. You can do this by simply installing recessed lighting which will provide
diffuse, but sufficient illumination.
Many professional bathroom lighting experts will advise you that
it is best to install these bathroom light fixtures just outside of the tub and not directly over
it. This will give you all the light you need and the option of closing the curtain if you want an even more
relaxing experience. If you enjoy reading while on the toilet, you can also install smaller reading lamps on
the ceiling just above the commode.
